It is with immense joy and pride that Kinderland celebrates its achievement at the 2020 Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) National Preschool Teaching Aid Competition. In our first participation ever, our team from Kinderland Preschool @ Hougang emerged the top winner with the Most Outstanding Award! Two other teams from Kinderland Preschool @ Pandan Valley and Kinderland Preschool @ Revenue House, were awarded the Promising Award and Consolation Award respectively.
Dr Carol Loy, Director of Curriculum and Professional Development, shared, “The awards are an affirmation to the quality of Kinderland’s Chinese programmes. This commendable achievement is made possible by a team of passionate, creative and resourceful professionals. The table top game is designed to be age-appropriate and to make learning the Chinese language both interactive and fun for young children. Besides helping children acquire the Chinese language easily, it also imparts knowledge of saving the earth.”
The competition seeks to encourage early childhood (EC) educators, students, parents and members of the public in Singapore to design a creative tabletop activity as teaching aids for teaching and learning the Chinese language. The activity theme can be a strategy game, a brain game, a reasoning game, or a role-playing game. Submitted entries are then evaluated and judged by a team of professionals in the EC sector, according to the criteria of educational purpose, theme creativity, mechanism and rules, practicality and overall presentation.
With more than 300 submitted entries, this was definitely not an easy feat! We extend our heartiest congratulations to our three winners, and we are proud of you for flying the Kinderland flag high!
