The International School of Singapore (ISS) has announced its adoption of the Kinderland Curriculum for their preschool service. The agreement was officially announced on 14 February 2023, with the roll-out due to begin in April 2023. Kinderland curriculum has been designed to integrate the best Western educational methodologies with the Eastern values of morality and inter-personal relationships.

Mr Wang Junyong, Director of ISS, cited Kinderland’s 45 years of early childhood experience and robust and proven curriculum as key factors of consideration. “With ISS being a sister brand to Kinderland (Singapore), it is a natural choice for us to choose the Kinderland curriculum,” he said.

One of the most notable aspects of the curriculum is its emphasis on music. The emphasis has earned the curriculum considerable recognition across the Asia-Pacific region. Mr Wang quoted Plato, saying, “Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.”

Music is at the core of Kinderland’s curriculum and is offered from infancy through to kindergarten across the region.

According to studies, music can help to unlock new areas of children’s cognitive growth. For instance, instrumental musical training develops the part of the brain that controls visual-spatial skills, vital for learning maths and science. It also improves memory, verbal intelligence and literacy.

This certainly rings true in our experience. The music-centric approach of Kinderland curriculum has benefitted over 45,000 graduates since the beginning. We look forward to empowering more children in Cambodia through the full breadth and scope of our curriculum!
