In conjunction with Joo Chiat’s 65th Anniversary, the Marine Parade GRC (Joo Chiat) organized a National Day event beside Jalan Sempadan on 17 August 2024. The event was hosted by Minister Edwin Tong and attended by Speaker of Parliament Mr Seah Kian Peng and Minister for Manpower, Dr Tan See Leng.

The celebration was nestled within the vibrant streets of Katong-Joo Chiat, where the heart of Peranakan culture in Singapore beats. Joo Chiat’s vibrant history predates Singapore’s 59 years of Independence.

A highlight of the event was a musical ensemble performed by 14 children including three Japanese children from Kinderland Preschool @ Marine Parade. They played instruments such as keyboards, glockenspiel, triangles, and woodblocks.

Our children, an ensemble of both Singaporean and Japanese, put together a medley of popular national songs including “Count on me Singapore”, “相信我吧新加坡” and “Semoga Bahagia” on keyboard, glockenspiel, triangle and woodblock.

The atmosphere was energized by musical performances and a march-in from St. Patrick’s Secondary School and our Kinderland children. They proudly led the national pledge and anthem, captivating everyone with their confidence.

An ensemble of both Singaporean and Japanese children, our preschoolers from Kinderland Preschool @ Marine Parade took stage and wowed over 1000 residents

The performance of our little musicians has wowed the hearts of the audiences, rallying cheers and applause. With their faces beaming with pride through their smiles, the opportunity has built even more confidence in our future leaders. We thank all parents for their support in creating this memory together.
