As we usher in the Lunar New Year, Kinderland has spared no effort in creating a vibrant, festive and culturally enriching atmosphere for our parents, children, and educators. At Kinderland, we embrace diverse cultures, and the Lunar New Year is particularly cherished within the Chinese community, marking a significant celebration for us. From joyfully tossing yusheng, to enchanting lion dance performances, and a parent-child cooking session, our Kinderland family were treated with a variety of fun and exciting activities to welcome the year of the dragon.
Parent-child bonding activities
The Lunar New Year celebrations at Kinderland Preschool @ Woodlands Mart saw exciting parent-child activities such as “Stack the Oranges”, relay games, calligraphy and more. Parents and children of Kinderland Academy @ Yio Chu Kang enjoyed learning how to make jiaozi together, from kneading the dough, folding on the dumpling skins, and adding the dumpling filling.
Kinderland Academy @ Yio Chu Kang also had a “Healthy Cooking for the Lunar New Year” session at the school’s kitchenette. Parents and children were able to learn about the auspicious and symbolic meanings behind some of the snacks served during Lunar New Year, and how to make a dragon cookie as well as healthy yusheng salad.
Lion and dragon dance performances
The children of Kinderland Academy @ Yio Chu Kang showcased an amazing lion and dragon dance performance to teachers and younger children at the school premises, as well as a performance for the elderlies at Econ Healthcare to spread the joy this Lunar New Year.
The Kinderland HQ office in Marine Parade enjoyed a magnificent lion dance performance presented by the children from Kinderland Preschool @ Marine Parade. This performance not only captivated the audience but also infused the entire office with the joyful spirit of the Lunar New Year festivities.
Kinderland Preschool @ Woodlands Mart joyfully celebrated Lunar New Year alongside children, parents, teachers and staff. The event featured mesmerising lion dance performances by our Kindergarten One and Two students, diverse dance performances, and a “Lohei” with all present.
Creating our very own dragon-shaped yusheng and tossing it
The children and teachers at Kinderland Academy @ Yio Chu Kang showcased their creativity by crafting a unique dragon-shaped “yusheng” using a delightful array of vegetables, fruits, and salmon slices. They ended their day joyfully tossing their “yusheng” together!
We would like to thank our children, parents, and educators for supporting and taking part in our various Lunar New Year activities this year and look forward to welcoming all members of our Kinderland family to celebrate the next Lunar New Year with us.
