Crestar Education Group organised held its inaugural centralised training on 3 July, 2017 at the Singapore EXPO’s Max Atria. This event brings over 500 educators and supporting staff from four of its Early Childhood brands – Kinderland, ELFA, NurtureStars and Skool4Kidz, together to build their teaching skills, reaffirm connections with colleagues and make new ones.
At Kinderland, continuous learning is one of our corporate values which we uphold diligently. Especially in the ever-changing landscape of the early childhood industry, it is important that everyone stay relevant and updated.
Anchored on the theme “Building a Strong Foundation for Continuous Learning”, more than 200 principals, teachers, customer service officers, cooks will benefit from the three workshops based on the Early Childhood Development Agency’s (ECDA) Continuous Professional Development Framework.
The workshops covered self-directed learning, picture learning and music and movement. The takeaways from the seven-hour “Creating self-directed learning environment” session for Principals and seniors teachers include designing quality, developmentally-appropriate learning environments for children 4 – 6 years to help them feel secure, comfortable, welcome and ready to explore and learn.
Teachers who attended the “Picture book learning” session learned more about using picture prompts to help stimulate thinking and promote oral and aural Chinese language skills. The “Music and creative Expression for infant and toddlers” session further provided the teachers with additional skills to use music as a tool to communicate with and engage children in back-and-forth interactions in a fun and creative way.
“I was very happy to engage with Principals and Teachers from other brands. We exchanged ideas on how we can enrich our teaching and children’s learning.” said Angela Elefante, English Teacher, Kinderland Marine Parade.
There was also one for cooks and cleaners on “Strategies in Attending to Infant and Toddlers during routine care”, which was funded by the Employment and Employability Institute (E2i). Held at the KLCII International Institute (KLCII) Serangoon Campus, the seven-hour workshop helped to further equip them with the basic knowledge on hygiene and safety so that they can support and sometimes assist teachers in daily routines and care for infants and toddlers.
Crystal Lim, Principal of Kinderland Marine Parade said “Thank you to the organising team which helped to create this platform that allows us to keep learning.”
Our staff can also look forward to new developments in their curriculum and professional development, and great opportunities for their career development in Kinderland.
