Kindergarten Two (K2) students, parents and teachers of Kinderland Preschool @ Bonavista, Jakarta embarked on an extraordinary adventure to the Lion City (Singapura) on 22 and 23 February 2024. Kinderland Singapore was excited to host our friends from Indonesia, and we showed them around our little sunny island.
This is the first overseas learning journey embarked by Kinderland Indonesia and Kinderland Preschool @ Bonavista might be the first Indonesian preschool group to travel to Singapore. A remarkable milestone!
FUN FACT: Kinderland Preschool @ Bonavista was also the first Kinderland preschool to be set up in Indonesia thirty years ago in 1994. It is located in a vibrant and upscale residential neighbourhood in South Jakarta.
Connecting with the World
Relating to the Term 3 learning theme, “Connecting with the World”, the expedition was organized to give K2 students the opportunity to learn about the world outside of Indonesia. Over the two days, the group visited the Science Centre, the Children’s Museum, Merlion Park and Admiralty Park – encountering a diversity of people, places and cultures.
On their visit to the Science Centre the students learned about topics such as technology and the human body through interactive play and exploring the various hands-on exhibits and activities.
At the Children’s Museum, the students explored a wide range of subjects, from the natural world and outer space to the Singaporean heritage and global cultures.
Following that they visited the Merlion Park to take photos with the iconic Merlion statue.
Last but not least, the group went to Admiralty Park for the children to experience some outdoor fun and active play at one of Singapore’s most popular public parks.
An Impactful Journey
Travelling and learning beyond Indonesia with Kinderland expanded the children’s horizons. It prepared them to become confident and well-rounded global citizens ready to thrive in the future.
During the trip, the teachers were able to observe and engage with the parents and children outside of the school environment. It gave teachers a deeper knowledge and understanding of the children’s personalities, further strengthening their relationships with the children.
For the parents, the expedition provided a unique and invaluable opportunity to learn, play and bond with their children with the support of their teachers.
The overseas learning journey created positive memories of Singapore, and we look forward to welcoming them again.
