We are delighted to announce that Kinderland Academy @ Yio Chu Kang has received the Early Childhood Innovation Award (Commendation) 2022 for its Young Master Builder Project.
This award recognizes our centre’s efforts to nurture innovation through innovative practices that have benefitted our children.
The Young Master Builder Project saw children creating their own water sprinkler using recycled materials. Guided by teachers, children were enthusiastic and hands-on through all stages, from design to assembly and construction. The Young Master Building Project showcased our children’s achievements created through Kinderland’s S.T.R.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Reading and wRiting, Engineering, Arts and Maths) programme.
Joann Lim, English Teacher, shared: “Observing how our children were innovative and confident in their exploration was enlightening. It showed me that these types of lessons and projects could widen children’s learning and understanding, enabling them to be problem-solvers in applying their knowledge of S.T.R.E.A.M concepts!
Children picked up new skills such as measuring and reading the measuring tape, all part of Maths. They also discovered that pipes assembled using a combination of t-joints and elbow joints could engineer a whole new system.
As educators, we are always looking for creative teaching methods to foster well-rounded development in our children. The ECDA Award has spurred us to expand our curriculum even further in this direction. We thank our parents for their trust and dedication as we strive for even more in the coming years!
