At Kinderland, we honour and nurture the special connection between fathers and their children, creating a supportive environment for students and their families. For Father’s Day 2024, we left no stones unturned in our efforts to celebrate the fathers of our beloved children.

Kinderland Preschool @ Sunshine Place’s celebration was extra special this year with Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, Member of Parliament for the Chua Chu Kang Group Representation Constituency (GRC), gracing the centre’s event.

The centre also welcomed Mr Thuvinder Singh, General Secretary of the Union of Telecoms Employees of Singapore (UTEC) to give a parental talk to our fathers. Read on below to find out more about how Kinderland celebrated the everyday Superman of our children this Father’s Day!

Centre Tour and Guest-of-Honour Address by Mr Zhulkarnain

Kinderland Preschool @ Sunshine Place were proud to take Mr Zhulkarnain on a tour of the centre during the Father’s Day event. During the tour, he was led by Mr Seet Lee Kiang, General Manager and Director of Kinderland Singapore, and Ms Patricia Tay, Cluster Head of Kinderland Preschool @ Sunshine Place.

The tour covered various efforts by the centre to optimise the development and nurturing of our children. This included our craft work board featuring art work done by our children, pointers on activities such as inviting parents into our classrooms for lessons to better understand what their children are learning, and our educators’ resource room which has been set aside to support the wellbeing of our educators.

He highlighted the importance of trust and support between parents and educators, and how it can greatly amplify the holistic development of our children.

Mr Zhulkarnain also spoke of the centre’s commitment in implementing a modern curriculum, strengthening educator support and welfare systems, and building a safe physical environment that optimises the learning and development of its children. He ended off by sharing his excitement of how Kinderland Preschool @ Sunshine Place will move forward in these areas.

Parental Talk

Celebrations at Kinderland Preschool @ Sunshine Place featured a parental talk by Mr Thuvinder Singh. Addressing over 70 of our fathers in attendance, he shed light on the positive impact that fathers can have on their children’s lives by being more involved. Namely, he stressed on how fathers play a critical role both in guiding their children throughout their lives, and being a pillar of support for them.

Mr Thuvinder also touched on the challenges fathers may face in balancing both the responsibilities of fatherhood and their professional commitments, and provided tips on how fathers can excel in both responsibilities.

The talk ended off with a Mentimeter activity where he got our fathers to share more on how well they know their children, and vice versa. Mr Thuvinder shared more on the importance of spending time with their children, having meaningful and open conversations, and how this understanding between father and child can strengthen the bond that they have.

Best Lookalike Contest and Children’s Performances

Kinderland Preschool @ Sunshine Place prepared various father-child bonding activities as part of the centre’s Father’s Day celebrations. This included a Best Lookalike contest for father and child. Our fathers and children went the extra mile for this competition, coordinating their attires from top to bottom for this contest. Winners of the contest received a prize, awarded by Mr Seet, and presented their matching outfits to those in attendance too!

Our children worked hard to practice and prepare for sweet and memorable performances specially for their fathers. Our fathers were smiling from ear to ear, touched by the heartfelt performances that their children had worked hard to put up for them.

We would like to thank our fathers for spending this special day with us and giving us the opportunity to celebrate them and their special bond with their child. We hope our fathers had a great time and look forward to welcoming them for even more celebrations next Father’s Day!
